ASCO acquires another large-capacity vessel with unlimited sailing capabilities
ASCO has added another Aframax tanker with unlimited sailing capabilities, operated by the shipping company Capital Maritime and Trading Corp, to its fleet. Relevant documents were signed between ASCO and representatives of Capital Maritime and Trading Corp regarding the delivery of the tanker.
The newly commissioned tanker has a deadweight of 115,500 tons, a length of 249.95 meters, a width of 44 meters, and a draft of 21.2 meters. The ship, which can reach a speed of 16 knots, was built in accordance with the latest standards to ensure the safe and efficient transportation of oil and oil products. The tanker meets international environmental requirements, is economical in fuel consumption, and is equipped with high security systems.
The project to purchase this Aframax tanker, which is 100% owned by ASCO, was financed by ASCO's profits, funds obtained from bonds issued by the company in the local market, and loans attracted from local banks.
It should be noted that this ship was given on a time charter to Petrobras, the national oil and gas company of Brazil, for a period of 3 years under a contract. Thus, its operation was ensured during that period.
Following delivery, the tanker delivered its first cargo from Brazil to Singapore and Malaysia. Its next voyage from Malaysia to Saudi Arabia is scheduled for the coming days.
Since 2023, a total of 7 large-capacity vessels have been commissioned in international waters, including 5 Aframax tankers and 2 Handysize dry cargo vessels. 4 of the Aframax tankers were purchased by the Joint Venture established by ASCO and SOCAR.
Expanding activities in non-Caspian basins and thereby contributing to external revenues to the country through the export of local shipping services is one of ASCO's main goals, and activities in this direction will continue in the coming periods.
Adriatic Gate Container Terminal welcomes Bora Med Service
Adriatic Gate Container Terminal (AGCT), International Container Terminal Services, Inc.’s (ICTSI) business unit at the Port of Rijeka in Croatia, has been added to the port rotation of the recently launched Bora Med service by CMA CGM Short Sea Lines.

The weekly service significantly improves connectivity and transit times for both regional and international shipments.
“AGCT’s inclusion in this service underscores our role in the Adriatic region and our commitment to provide flexible solutions for our clients. We welcome the opportunities brought about by the enhanced coverage and faster transit times,” said Emmanuel Papagiannakis, AGCT chief executive officer.
The port rotation for the BMS service is as follows: Antalya – Izmir – Aliaga – Ambarli – Gebze – Gemlik – Malta – Ancona – Ravenna – Venice – Trieste – Koper – Rijeka – Bar – Taranto – Malta – Limassol – Alexandria – Beirut – Antalya.

Royal Air Maroc Cargo partners with CHAMP Cargosystems
Royal Air Maroc Cargo, the national airline of Morocco, has strengthened its 15-year partnership with CHAMP Cargosystems by implementing Cargospot Mobile and Cargospot Handling.
With these recent additions, Royal Air Maroc Cargo continues to strategically expand its CHAMP portfolio, addressing key challenges in the air cargo industry through solutions such as Cargospot Airlines, Cargospot Handling, Traxon Global Security, and Traxon Global Commerce.
Implemented earlier in the year, Cargospot Mobile elevates RAM’s hub operations in Casablanca by putting Cargospot Handling in the hands of employees through mobile devices directly on the warehouse floor. This will equip Royal Air Maroc Cargo with live shipment status updates, data insights and safety mechanisms for the handling of dangerous goods, unlocking profound efficiency gains through enhanced connectivity and streamlined operations.
July marked another milestone with Royal Air Maroc Cargo's successful deployment of Cargospot API giving the airline access to CHAMP’s industry-leading suite of APIs which include services for booking and pricing to be used in tandem with CHAMP’s Cargospot solution. Royal Air Maroc Cargo was particularly enthusiastic to connect with API marketplace, cargo.one, to deliver a world-class digital booking experience and visibility across global customer markets.
Both implementations were executed successfully with impressive speed and were made possible through shared values of collaboration, innovation, and interconnectivity.
Ali Ghaffar, Head of Sales – EMEA at CHAMP, said “We are delighted to equip Royal Air Maroc with Cargospot Mobile and Cargospot APIs and facilitate their continued success. The addition of new Cargospot products combined with their existing suite of CHAMP solutions positions them for excellent growth and opportunities ahead.”
Yassine Berrada, VP Cargo at Royal Air Maroc said “The implementation of Cargospot Mobile and Cargospot APIs have been an exciting development that enables us to automate repetitive tasks through digitalized operations. We look forward to increasing our efficiency, productivity, and interconnectivity with the latest technology and innovative software solutions from CHAMP.”

EVA Air achieves Taiwan’s first dual IATA CEIV lithium batteries certifications
EVA Air, together with Evergreen Airline Services and Evergreen Air Cargo Services, has been certified the Center of Excellence for Independent Validators (CEIV) Lithium Batteries certification by the International Air Transport Association (IATA). This recognition makes EVA Air the first airline in Taiwan to achieve dual certification for passenger and cargo operations, highlighting its professional expertise and operational excellence across both sectors. It also shows the airline’s steadfast commitment to aviation safety.
With the growing use of lithium batteries and the rapid expansion of e-commerce, the demand for their transportation has increased significantly in air cargo shipments and passenger luggage. Prioritizing safety, EVA Air and its affiliate companies have adopted stringent standards encompassing training, self- audit, risk management, and quality control. These measures ensure compliance with international regulations, mitigate transportation risks and enhance the reliability of lithium battery shipments.
This certification covers all aspects of passenger, cargo, and ground handling operations. For passenger service, it includes stringent luggage checks, emergency response training for pilots and cabin crew, and advanced fire suppression systems on aircraft. On the cargo side, it reinforces the storage, handling, and transportation of lithium battery shipments. All operational processes adhere to IATA’s highest safety standards to ensure the secure transport of cargo and luggage.
EVA Air achieved CEIV Lithium Batteries certification with a “zero-defect” standard. Building on its successful CEIV Pharma certifications in 2021 and 2024, the airline has become the first in Taiwan to obtain dual certifications for lithium batteries and pharmaceutical cold chain operations. These achievements further enhance EVA Air’s expertise in passenger and cargo services, setting a new benchmark for the industry.
Guided by its core principles of “Safety, Service, and Sustainability,” EVA Air integrates its “zero accident” safety goal into the mindset of every employee. The airline continues to innovate and refine its operations, providing passengers with a safe and comfortable travel experience while offering cargo customers unparalleled security and service quality. EVA Air remains dedicated to building a trusted and sustainable brand, leading the way as a global aviation benchmark.
